Blairsville (the county seat of Union County) is known for its Blue Ridge
Mountain beauty and comfortable climate. Residents and visitors enjoy an easy
pace of life. From the 18-hole public golf course to the award winning county
hospital, Blairsville is only about 10 miles northwest of the highest point in
Georgia, Brasstown Bald,

The current population of Union County is
18,000 which is well dispersed throughout the county's 323 square miles which
more than 97,000 acres (58% of the county) lies within the Chattahoochee
National Forest which remains under Federal control. The county is situated
approximately 100 miles north of Atlanta and is easily accessed via four lane
highways and the Blairsville Airport. Located at the tip of the State, Union
County adjoins North Carolina at its northernmost border.
The climate in Union County consists of four distinct, enjoyable seasons. With
altitudes ranging from 1,800 to 4,784 feet above sea level the area has an
average temperature of 69.3 degrees. Rainfall averages 65 inches per year and
snowfall averages 3 inches annually.
